Oh my, I've been neglecting my blogging duties for the last few days. Sorry! But I've been so busy doing research on new books and authors of 2012, as well as books in my genre. I have a one track mind when I start reading... kind of like when I'm writing. :) Being a writer is definitely the job for me. But I do have to work on making sure I get to my blog every day. I can't stop writing in my blog because this is part of my writing career as well. 

Anyways.. Like I just mentioned, I have been doing some research by reading books in the YA fantasy genre since two of my novels are YA fantasy/syfy. So far (in the last few days) I have read Eight Grade Bites  and Ninth Grade Slays written by Heather Brewer and today I started Tenth Grade Bleeds. I started reading these because first of all, I remember reading them in high school but had completely forgotten about them, and second because my first novel involves vampires. My topic is utterly different of course but I need to read several YA novels around my topic to know what is good, what is not so good, what is great, and what is the best. I feel better knowing almost everything that has been published and I need to know what I am talking about. It would be a bit embarrassing if I didn't know what I was talking about. 

For better research, I checked out GoodReads.com 2012 YA Debut Authors  to see what has popped out this year. I have a list from that list of books that I must read for my research. But before I dig into that list a book popped out and caught my eyes.. I spent all night reading it unable to put it down no matter what I did. I even ended up swearing when the phone rang and pulled me away. The book is The Selection by Kiera Cass. The topic is anything but close to mine but it popped out at me when I looked at GoodReads.com and I had to read it at all costs. Wonderful, it is just wonderful and I had so much fun reading it and I can't wait for the next one! If you check it out I'm sure you will understand why I like it so much. :) 

But that is it for the moment. I have some reading to do tonight as well as some writing so I have a full night ahead of me. But most likely I will write again and share how far I got with my work. We shall see!
