For the longest time I was having trouble finding work because I used to have migraines so bad I couldn't function. However, Lady Luck struck me and I found a way to keep the migraines under control. I looked for work but no avail. It was saddening because I didn't have any money and my mom was working her butt off trying to support herself and me. It was a difficult time. But then Lady Luck struck again.
I was helping my mom's friend look for a job on craigslist. While I was helping her luck guided me. I found an ad asking for a caregiver for an adorable 90 year old woman (Margie). I replied to the ad and started talking with Margie's daughter, Lisa. A couple of days later Lisa and I met.
During my meeting with Lisa we discussed various things while getting acquainted. I felt wonderful after the meeting and wanted the job of caring for her mother even more. Soon after my prayers were answered and I got the job.
On July 30, 2013 I moved into my new apartment, and the next day I started my new job of caring for and helping Margie. Since then I have learned a lot of different things. Every day is an adventure and completely different from the day before. I never know what to expect when I wake up.
Because of Margie and her family my life has changed completely. I'm so happy and blessed to be part of all of their lives. I've learned so much from all of them and I'm so grateful for the days I have with them.
And because of them I have started a new blog. It is dedicated to Margie. I'm going to share all the adventures that I have had with her and all the adventures that I will have with her. I also want to share tips and tricks that I use so anyone who has a loved one suffering through dementia will have some ideas of how to handle different situations.
